Every one of us has at least one pair of old keys that are at the back of the ‘miscellaneous mess’ drawer. And if you happen to live somewhere like New York City, where people switch apartments, jobs and ex lovers more frequently then nose tissue, then you probably have about 10 pairs of old keys laying all over the place.
Great news! Any sanitation department that picks up and recycles metal recycles keys as well. Yes, that’s right, all you need to do is drop them in the recycle bin, and they will be gone forever!
But wait, there is more! If you want to get some more good credit for recycling your old keys, send them to Keys For Kindness. This is an initiative aiming to raise money for the M.S. society and helping in the quest for finding cure for Multiple Sclerosis. You send your keys to Keys for Kindness and by selling them to scrap metal places they raise money.
So there, you got two options to recycle your old keys. Whatever you do, don’t throw them in the garbage.
